Cartoon Network: Hanna Barbera - the big guns among Hanna Barbera cartoons

Image
In my previous blog article, I spoke of smaller filler cartoons of Hanna-Barbera which were broadcasted in between the bigger, more familiar cartoons during the rest of the day outside Power Zone (3 PM - 5 PM). This time, I will focus on the big guns themselves that deserve an honourable mention for how they gave us evergreen memories of childhood days well spent watching them and hence will always remain an indelible part of our childhood. Of course, these cartoons have become part of pop culture with some aspects of the cartoons themselves like the vehicles used by these cartoons being replicated by toy companies like Hotwheels which has made a version of the Flintstones' Flintmobile,  the Jetson's Jetcar or Scooby-Doo's Mystery Machine.  i) The Flintstones :                               The story is set in the stone age with the adventures of 2 families and their kids - Fred Flintstone...

Hanna Barbera filler cartoons from the 60's that were broadcast in Cartoon Network India in the 90's which we grew up watching as kids

If you have not gone through the previous Cartoon Network Power Zone blog articles of mine, I would encourage you to read them before checking this one out. This time, I am going to cover shorter Hanna Barbera cartoons that I and other kids from the 90's grew up watching in the 90's. These cartoons about which I am going to talk are from the 1960's and earlier and had a vintage look to them and are the ones which most may have forgotten because they were of shorter duration compared to the larger more famous ones but still deserve an honourable mention for the roles that these cartoon characters played in making our childhood colourful with memories and humour. If there is anything that these cartoons were known for, it was their unique sense of humour that made us laugh and kept us happy in those days, a few of them were also action cartoons with a bit of humour which were not a part of Power Zone, since Power Zone cartoons were solely about action cartoons involving s...

Cartoon Network India 1990 - Blast from the Past Series - The Big Power Zone Action Cartoons

Image
In my previous blog post, I discussed about the smaller filler Hanna Barbara cartoons that filled us with smiles and brightened our childhood days in the 90's here in India. In this post, I am continuing where I left off but here, I would like to talk about the bigger cartoons of Power Zone which could, in a way, be considered the Power Zone Hanna Barbara Torch Bearers (of which a few are from other animation studios too) because these were the easiest to remember and I am sure that most of you would already be able to relate with me on this, since you may already be knowing about or at least be able to recall all or some of them. i)  The Centurions :                                The Centurions are 3 men wearing exo-frame suits (Ace McCloud, Jake Rockwell and Max Ray depending on their respective areas of operation - Ace takes care of air operations, Jake is the ground spec...

Cartoon Network India 1990 - Blast from the past series - Power zone mini cartoons that brightened up our childhood, so get ready for a nostalgic trip down memory lane to rediscover these Hanna Barbara classics

Those were the days in India!. We used to come back home after school and spend an hour or two watching our most favourite cartoons in Cartoon network before going out and playing with other kids in the neighbourhood or even going for tuitions or before study time. Cartoon Network's best cartoons were these that were part of a special series called Power Zone - all action-packed cartoons that brightened up our day and gave us something to think about and discuss with our friends too!. I remember how I used to have pen fights with class mates or pull out a sheet of paper and a pencil to mark out dots mentioning the name of each superhero on both sides as we used to engage in a pencil strikethrough game!, the one who defeats the other opponent wins. However, Cartoon Network's logo first underwent a transformation and the channel got indianised to the point that cartoons like "Chota Bheem" became the mainstay and these were religiously-themed cartoons which were the...

Charlie Kirk - My thoughts on his shooting and the inhumane reactions of his enemies (in remembrance of Charlie Kirk)

Image
I only came to know about Charlie Kirk on the day when he was shot, My Dad rushed up to me as I was sitting and surfing the internet in the morning on my laptop here in India and told me about a very famous person in the US who was shot for his views and he asked me who it was. Quickly, I came to know that it was about a person named Charlie Kirk and I got to watch some of his other videos showcasing his Christian and political views that gave me a peek into his views and he gained my respect and honour pretty quickly because he represents and embodies the values that I as a Christian stand for unapologetically and zealously and yet he was killed on the very day I came to know about him and I felt it as a personal loss, I did not know how to process this but I did feel the pain of losing a brother in Christ. I had the chance to watch a video between him and Ridvan Ayedmir - a Turkish apostate of Islam known by his Youtube channel called Apostate Prophet who had actua...

3/I Atlas - comet or alien probe? - my thoughts as an amateur space enthusiast on why it could possibly be a probe, if it turns out to be one...

First it was Oumuamua in 2017, then 2/I Borisov (2019) and now 3/I Atlas (2025). While the first 2 managed to whizz through our solar system at mind-numbing speeds and people had their own doubts and suspicions about them, nothing has made quite the buzz online and on news channels like the visit of 3/I Atlas. Professor Avi Loeb claims that it could most likely be a space probe while his colleagues are swift to dismiss his claim, its anomalous behaviour points to the contrary. So what if it is a space probe?, is humanity prepared to think of what this could lead to?, what would be the implications of this flyby?. Everything about this newcomer from its angle of entry into the solar system to its chemical composition seem to lend more credence to its possibility of being a space probe from another star system. Here are my thoughts in support of professor Avi's conclusions based on the data about this interstellar visitor assuming hat 3/I Atlas is indeed an alie...
